The Flight of Geese

Next fall when you see geese heading north for the winter, look how they fly in a "V" formation. You may be interested to know that science has discovered why they fly that way.

It has been found that as each bird flaps its wings it causes a movement in the air that helps the bird behind it. Flock flying in V formation increases at least 71% more power than if each bird flew alone.

People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they want easier and faster because they are mutually supportive.

Whenever a goose falls out of formation immediately feels air resistance, realizing the difficulty of doing it alone quickly returns to his spot benefiting from his partner in front.

When the leader goose gets tired, it goes to one of the posts in the back and another goose takes over. The geese on the back produce a sound of their own which encourages those in the  front to maintain their speed. A word of encouragement produces great benefits. It stimulates motivation & comforts.

Finally, when a goose gets sick or wounded, two geese drop out of formation and follow it to help and protect him. They stay until it is fit to fly again or until he dies. Only then the two companions fly back to their flock or join another group.

We should be like geese, supporting one another on this journey to the new world that Jehovah promises.
